Management Information Systems in an educational environment has increased, due to its effectiveness and efficiency in improving school activities, utilizing resources, decreasing workload and improving time management. Management Information System has positively impacted the educational system in leadership, decision making, collaboration, and communication. Schools can take advantage of these systems to help create plans for an organization to succeed.

Recent changes to the school system include a large portion of schooling being done in a virtual classroom environment instead of a traditional one. In Toms River Schools, students have been given the option of going to school part-time and online the rest of the time or fully online. This includes substantial changes to the information system employed by the schools.Any change of this scale is guaranteed to come with some difficulty in regards to implementation, and adaptation.

In an interview with the Business Administrator, William Doering, and the Director of Information Systems Technology Jay Attiya of Toms River Regional Schools, questions were asked to understand some of the finer details regarding these changes and how the schools have adapted. These questions include: what Information System is used by TRRS; why that IS, and how does TRRS plan to keep students, staff and teachers up to date on the new technology. Using these questions and more, one can assess the pros and cons to the IS and make suggestions on how to improve.
